Patios, decks & outdoor structures.
Retaining walls, fencing, walkways, paverwork, and built outdoor living spaces. Built to hold up through a Connecticut winter. Owner on every job.
Built for Connecticut winters.
Hardscaping that holds its grade, keeps its joints, and doesn't heave come April. That's the job.
B&L builds patios, decks, retaining walls, fences, walkways, garden beds, and outdoor structures across Connecticut. We do the hardscaping and the surrounding lawn and landscape work under the same contract — no coordination gap between the build and the cleanup.
Brian walks the site, draws up the layout, quotes it in writing, and checks the finish before we leave. If it's structural, we permit it. If the ground needs to move first, we've got the excavation equipment to do that too.

Hardscaping FAQs.
Do I need a permit for a patio or deck in Connecticut?
Decks attached to the house typically require a building permit in most CT towns. Patios at grade level — stone, pavers, or concrete poured directly on the ground — usually don't. Retaining walls over a certain height may also need a permit. We'll tell you what your specific job requires and help coordinate with the town.
How long does a patio or deck project take?
A standard paver patio is typically a 2–4 day job. A pressure-treated deck runs 3–5 days depending on size and permitting. Retaining walls vary by length and height. We give you a realistic timeline in the quote so you can plan around it — not an optimistic guess that slips a week later.
Can you handle the hardscaping and the surrounding lawn work together?
Yes — this is one of the advantages of working with B&L. We do the hardscaping build and the surrounding lawn and landscape work under the same contract. One crew, one schedule, no coordination gap between the patio install and the planting beds or lawn repair around it.
